Release Day: Dark Secrets!

Now that I’ve had over a dozen releases I get asked does the feeling wear off?

Nope, that shiny just released feel smells as good as ever.

What about the nerves?

Yep I still get them. What will people think? Will the reviewers like it or savage it? Gee, I hope I get some good early reviews. Should I do a blog tour, a goodreads giveaway? What else should I do to promote the book? OMG have I done enough to promote the book? What if there’s a typo that went undiscovered?

Much of the nerves are related to things I can’t control so I try and let them slide. The promo depends on the book. I’ve been trying out a few things. I think a goodreads giveaway for print books is good. It gets people seeing my name. Ditto for blog tour. Other promo items? I don’t know. It can be easy to spend heaps and get few results. I love bookmarks. I pick them up at conferences—I have bought books because I’ve picked up a bookmark. I sometimes get some sticky note pads made up as they are good to giveaway as part of a prize pack.

Now I’m going to go and celebrate the release of Dark Secrets (ebook and audio) by having a hot chocolate and listening to it (while I’d never read my book once it’s published, listening to it is kinda fun;) )
