Book Review - Colorado Fireman by CC Coburn

This is a Harlequin American Romance released in March 2012.  This book is the 4th book in CC's O'Malley Brothers series. A series I have enjoyed immensely.  I love continuities and the fact that there is a pretty good word count in the American Romance line I get to see all the characters from the other books.

This is the story of Adam and Carly. Adam is a firefighter and Carly is a mother of four and a trained massage therapist. Trust me after reading this book I wanted to meet Carly in person so she could give me a massage - the way CC wrote this character was very realistic. I love it when that happens.

Anyway Carly has moved to Colorado to start a new life after her firefighter husband dies in a fire in San Fransisco. She is also moving to get away from her deceased husband's good friend who is starting to get a little creepy and stalkerish. Unfortunately Carly seems to be a fire magnet and the hotel where she was due to start a job at, got firebombed. So she ended up in Spruce Lake. She's just settling in and yep you guessed it her apartment block catches fire. Her youngest child is trapped and Adam rescues him as well as the dog of some elderly residents.

Adam is a man who doesn't want accolades. He doesn't see himself as a hero, he sees himself as a man doing a job. Putting his life on the line all in the name of duty. He is a complex character. A character, that due to an incident when he was a teenager has shaped his life. He's come back to his home town reluctantly but soon finds that being surrounded by family and finding a woman who makes him start to feel again a good thing.

This is a story of having the courage to start over when things seem overwhelming and also the courage to face up to a past mistake and be willing to live with the consequences.

This is a great read and I really recommend that you look up CC's whole O'Malley series. I'm looking forward to book number 5!
