On a Book Launch High

Thanks to everyone who attended my book Launch on Saturday. It was a fabulous success. I had heaps of fun and the store sold a stack of books. For the first time, since being told by Avalon that they wanted to buy my manuscript, I actually felt like a real author. A lot of people say it’s seeing their name on the cover of a book for the first time, or walking past it on the shelves in store that gives them the real buzz. For me, it was watching people walk up to the book store counter and hand over a credit card. I was like, “Wow, you’re actually gonna pay money for that.”

The highlight of my day however, was when my year six primary school teacher turned up. She had heard about the event on the grape vine and had come along to support me. I was absolutely delighted to see her. She was one of my favourite teachers as a kid but I never expected her to remember me, especially twenty years later. I was extremely gratified when she said, “But Loretta, I always knew you’d end up here.”

WINK of course, was out in force. Showing up in the afternoon to make sure I was doing them proud. Donna brought champagne and I got a photo with my best mates. I’ve attached it with this post for your viewing pleasure.
